I promise. This is the last time plans will change.
I hope. I have to promise myself that or I can't fathom how difficult the rest of wedding planning is going to be. The wedding and reception have been planned on the same day again-July 15th. The wedding will be at Showdown and the reception still at the Heritage Inn. Planning a wedding as far out of town as Flathead Lake is not a good idea, and I don't recommend it to anyone-especially when your fiance's family/friends are all from North Dakota. We went to Showdown this weekend and they have a shitload of snow. They took us to the top of the mountain on a snowmobile and it should be a really beautiful place in July. The owners are really accomodating and they are going to open up the chairlift so people can ride it to the top if they want.
Bernie's out of the deck in the below zero weather making dinner on the barbeque. He just dropped a tool and I can hear him cussing out the grill.
We need advice on something...
Bernie wants to have the bar open at Showdown for a couple of hours. I worry about this because I would hate to have anyone get hurt or get a DUI on the way back into town. There will definately be alcohol at the reception, but we will be in a hotel, and there will be not excuse. What do you smart people out there think?

I would think that the boozy at the wedding would be enough, but then I will probably be the one driving out there since I would know the way better than Tyson, and I can't even drink a beer and then think about driving anymore, so... For me, the drinking at the reception would be fine.
Showdown sounds nice, btw.
Showdown is a GREAT idea! Wow, you guys are smart.
However, I am super paranoid about DUIs. I would also just die if anyone got hurt or ticketed or anything. I say that the bar can be open ONLY if there is a pre-determined list of DD's . That means everyone comes to showdown with a DD if they want to drink. If you want, I will be a DD (ONLY UNTIL THE RECEPTION!) and I could also be the alcohol police and make sure anyone who drinks leaves with a DD because I don't care if people hate me.
Wait, how big is this wedding? How many asses would I have to beat?
This is the only graceful solution I can think of. Having a 'few hours' of drinks between Showdown and the Heritage Inn is just a recipe for disaster otherwise.
Melanie says NO NO NO to having any sort of alcohol at the wedding itself. If you are planning on a full reception in town, where people will stay and live, there is no need to have drunks at both. Let them suffer through the wedding booze-free and get plastered at the reception! That's what they are for! Obviously if the reception was at Showdown, it would be a different story, and then I would have to give it more thought...but, if I were getting married at a park or museum or even the church, obviously I would wait for boozin' till the reception. Then it's party time.
P.S. How is the rest of the planning going, anyway? Need any help? As of 10 AM tomorrow I am officially done with fall semester. Maybe you will be able to see me now! I have my laptop and wireless internet so you will all be hearing from me more often on here for sure. Much love to you all!
