the big news
First of all...Congrats to Grace for her first steps! What an exciting moment in your lives. Also, applause for breaking into the housing market and not throwing your money away anymore. The house is really cute.
I have the big news I think everyone I know has been waiting to hear. So here it is, Bernie and I are engaged. He asked a couple of days ago and we're setting the date sometime next summer. It depends on when his sister in Samoa can come home from the Peace Corps. I really want the wedding to be at a lake in the mountains, but our plans are definatley still in the infancy stage.
I know I used to say I wasn't interested in getting married, but I guess I just needed to find the right person. What a cliche! I love Bernie on so many levels and when I imagine my future, we are always together. We have mutual respect for each other and, believe it or not, have never been in a real fight. We do not yell at each other and I have never even felt the need to do so. Maybe I see enough drama from people close to me.
OK...enought gushing for now. The house closes on Wednesday, so we have a busy week ahead of us. It's time to take Hailey for a walk.
Does anyone else still hate Sundays?
I have always been a little more depressed on Sunday. I think it has something to do with the school thing. Being back on a Monday-Friday schedule has brought back the Sunday blues a little more. It's not helping that Bernie was at a fire all week last week. He came home Friday night and left for North Dakota yesterday afternoon. His grandmother was very sick and passed away this afternoon. I feel badly for his family--this is the second grandparent they have lost in three months.
So I'm here dealing with the house for sale, the dog, and work on top of it. No complaints, I enjoy taking the responsibility...I just miss Bernie.
We had an open house today and I'm waiting for my mom to get back to me to see how it went. We've had plenty of showings in the last two weeks. The one offer that came in was a good one, but contingent on the sale of their house, which they has just listed. We decided to wait because his house is in a firt-time buyer price range and we should be able to get an offer without the possible hold-up. I am also trying to decide what colors to paint the walls after we take down the border in the new house. Right now, I'm leaning towards a blue/tan palette that would look nice with the black furniture. Any suggestions? Please don't say white or neutral.
I got talked into watching Marlena's boys last night and it was a disaster as usual. Dade threw a huge fit and was throwing large objects across the room. Hie makes an effective form of birth control. Marlena has got him going to a psychologist twice a week, but she's back with Tad. The two cancel each other out.
